What Needs a Building Permit?
The following is a list of common items that require a building permit. It is not all inclusive. Please contact the Building Inspector or the Clerk-Treasurer's office if you are unsure if your project requires a permit.
- New homes (New Home application checklist (PDF))
- Adding a deck
- Fences
- Installing a concrete walk, driveway, patio or slab
- Interior remodeling of kitchen or bath
- Garages or other accessory buildings
- Replacing a furnace or installing air conditioning
- Replacing windows or doors
- Replacing siding
- Replacing shingles
What Doesn't Need a Building Permit?
There are a variety of things that do not require a permit. Again, please contact us if you are unsure.
- Any project less than $500
- Replacing carpeting or other flooring
- Putting in a concrete block patio or replacing a concrete walk or driveway
- Other minor repairs
