Yard Wastes, Brush Chipping & Leaf Collection
Yard Wastes Disposal
The Village has a dumpster for the disposal of yard wastes (grass clippings, weeds, leaves, etc.) located in the yard behind the Wastewater Treatment Facility, 1111 Alcott Avenue. The dumpster is available from April 1st through mid-November each year. Currently the hours are Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. The yard waste dumpster is not available on Fridays. Yard wastes may ONLY be dropped off during listed hours.
Saturday hours were made available through the volunteer efforts of Village residents. If you would be interested in volunteering to ensure Saturday hours remain available for the convenience of all residents, please email the Village Hall or call at 234-0304.
This dumpster is for disposal of residential yard wastes only. Brush and tree limbs should continue to be placed curbside (see below). Yard wastes should not be placed in the dumpster in plastic bags. Please empty any containers or bags directly into the dumpster. The dumpster is NOT for the disposal of trash of any kind, including items such as tires, electronics, or hazardous materials. If the Village finds that unauthorized items are appearing in the dumpster, or yard wastes are being left at the Public Works Garage after hours, the dumpster hours may be limited to only supervised times, or eliminated completely. Please help ensure that this service remains available for all residents by complying with these guidelines.
Brush Chipping
Wood chipping is provided as a service to Village residents on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from the second Tuesday in April to the second Tuesday in October (chipping is typically not done in November, December, January, February and March). Tree limbs and brush up to 6 inches in diameter may be left at the curb. Leave limbs as long as possible and have cut ends facing the street in a single layer. Please do not make a large pile of limbs as they may become entangled. Public Works employees may refuse to chip limbs that are difficult to handle.
Please note that the Village does not chip brush for lots being cleared for building purposes or if you have removed an entire tree. This service is designed for the resident who is trimming branches. If you take down a tree, please have your tree service remove all of the branches.
Leaf Collection
The Village provides leaf collection service for all residents. On Monday and Thursday each week during the fall, leaves that are left at the curb will be picked up. Property owners without curbing should rake them near the road. Collection usually takes place from the first week of October until the first snow fall.
Please note during peak pick-up season (usually November) crews may pick up leaves on additional days during the week. Please be patient.
